Reiki was a wonderful gift that I had discovered at my time of most need. The last few years have been full of negativity and a lot of growing pains. One of those pains was a "skin thing" that I had been struggling with for awhile. Keratosis Pilaris was something I always had -- it's hereditary. But, there was a point where it was just out of control (ask anyone who knew me at the time, LOL!).

Two years, with minimal results from the dermatologist, finally got to me. My "type A" personality could not solve this problem. Plan A, B, C, and D did nothing! My self esteem and confidence hit an all time low. Worst of all, I realized I was not in control!! The "type A" in me, was shocked to discover this!

With Reiki, things began to turn around within a few months. Better solutions emerged, with the kind of results I was looking for. My skin had improved! However, the real bonus in all this was other things in my life had also changed. Relationships improved, I experienced a lot of personal growth, my spiritual practice and beliefs were strengthened. I also found a better way to live -- to go with the flow -- be in the flow.

Reiki, is now my passion! It is my first love. My "skin thing" ended up being a blessing in disguise. My purpose in life was found: Reiki and sharing Reiki.

There is a quote I remember from the book "Conversations with God," by Neale Donald Walsch, "See the perfection in the imperfection." Reading that quote really hit home for me. You know, going through negative experiences in life is hard, but one of the great things about life is that you can turn those negative experiences into something positive. That positive for me - is Reiki!

I am being reminded a lot lately to not forget that every cloud has a silver lining.

September 2009:

It has been about two years since I wrote the above, and Reiki continues to work in my life. In the last year, I discovered more gifts that I love just as much as Reiki: Lomilomi and Feng Shui. Being able to use these tools to help people live well & be well makes my heart full and overflowing. There are no words to describe all the internal rewards I receive from doing this work. I am deeply grateful that I made the choice to follow this path. My beloved journey continues...
